Ingolstadt/Brussels, July 09, 2024. Audi is considering the early end of production of the Audi Q8 e-tron at the Brussels site. This statement of intention triggers the start of the information and consultation process in accordance with Belgian law. Audi Brussels is in dialog with social partners to discuss solutions for employees and the site.
The Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron models produced in Brussels are affected by a global decline in customer orders in the electric luxury class segment. As a result, Audi is considering ending production at the Brussels site. Following a detailed review of market conditions and the site’s specific challenges, such as high logistics costs and inflexible plant layout, the decision to consider early production termination has been made.
Volker Germann, CEO of Audi Brussels, emphasizes the importance of transparent and constructive dialogue during this process. Rita Beck, spokesperson for the Audi Committee in the European VW Group Works Council, calls for long-term prospects for the plant and its employees.
