Daihatsu Announces Response to Consumer Affairs Agency Guidance

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. announced on July 9, 2024, the results of its response to the guidance from the Consumer Affairs Agency regarding its certification misconduct issue. Daihatsu deeply apologizes for the significant inconvenience and concern caused to all stakeholders.

Following the guidance received on January 19, 2024, Daihatsu has taken several measures to strengthen its internal whistleblowing response system. The main actions taken include:

  1. Enhancing Internal Whistleblowing Investigation System: Establishing a conflict-free investigation team led by the Audit Department and increasing internal whistleblowing personnel by eight members (effective April 1, 2024).
  2. Response to Anonymous Reports: Formalizing the procedures for notifying anonymous whistleblowers of the investigation results and commencing email notifications from May 2023.
  3. Review and Internal Communication of Regulations: Implementing a new “Internal Whistleblowing System Operation Regulations,” conducting briefings for executives and organizational heads, and posting the summary of operational changes on the intranet and during PC startup.

These measures aim to create an open workplace where all employees can voice their concerns without fear.
