The Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF) and MaRS Discovery District have selected seven Canadian startup companies for the first phase of the “Mobility Unlimited Hub” program, which aims to support innovators and entrepreneurs in Toronto, Canada. Announced in March 2024, the program will provide support for the commercialization of solutions through marketing, fundraising, and business network creation. The program will run for approximately one year starting in June 2024.
The selected companies are:
- AWL-Electricity (Quebec): Develops wireless charging stations for electric mobility aids and ultra-compact mobility devices.
- Axtion Independence Mobility Inc. (Nova Scotia): Designs portable mobility devices for daily living support, fall prevention, and recovery assistance.
- Braze Mobility Inc. (Ontario): Provides blind spot sensors for wheelchairs.
- Cheelcare (Ontario): Designs mobility solutions such as power assist and integrated rehabilitation wheelchairs.
- Deaf AI (Ontario): Provides AI-based real-time speech-to-sign language interpretation.
- Seleste Innovations Inc (Western Canada): Develops smart glasses for the visually impaired.
- Trexo Robotics Inc. (Ontario): Develops wearable robotic exoskeletons for children with mobility impairments.
