Google has outlined four key principles in its paper, “The Opportunities and Risks of Large Language Models in Mental Health,” to responsibly develop AI that supports mental health. These principles include focusing on responsible development, advancing mental health equity, protecting privacy and safety, and keeping human involvement in the loop. By adhering to these principles, AI has the potential to expand access to quality mental health care.
