On July 25, the 2024 Guangzhou State-owned Assets and Enterprise Science and Technology Innovation and Talent Conference took place, where GAC Group announced increased investments in research and development. In 2023, GAC invested 8.4 billion yuan and applied for about 3,200 new patents. The GAC Intelligent Connected Big Data Platform was recognized as one of the 15 science and technology innovation projects of municipal state-owned enterprises.
GAC Group is collaborating with Sun Yat-sen University on a project titled “Quantitative Metal Corrosion Research in Complete Vehicle Corrosion Tests” to promote the digitization and intelligence of automotive anti-corrosion design. Additionally, the GAC Research Institute announced the “Light Map Technology Research Based on Perceptual Real-Time Mapping” project, advancing technological innovation.
The GAC Research Institute has assembled research and development personnel from over 10 countries, including Germany, Italy, the USA, Japan, and South Korea, establishing a global R&D network centered in Guangzhou. The institute has also set up a postdoctoral research workstation to foster high-level scientific and technological talent.
