Stuttgart, July 8, 2024 – Mercedes-Benz is celebrating 130 years of motorsport at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024. Mercedes-Benz Heritage GmbH brings a dazzling lineup of iconic racing cars from various eras to this event, known as the “largest motorized garden party in the world,” taking place from July 11 to 14, 2024. The race from Paris to Rouen on July 22, 1894, marked the birth of motor racing, and since then, Mercedes-Benz has shaped motorsport with legendary racing vehicles and major victories.
Among the cars Mercedes-Benz Classic is bringing to the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024 are the 1924 Mercedes 2-litre Targa Florio racing car, the 1934 Mercedes-Benz 750-kilogram formula racing car W 25, the 1955 Mercedes-Benz Formula One racing car W 196 R, the 1990 Mercedes-Benz C 11 Group C racing sports car, the 1998 Mercedes-Benz GT racing car CLK LM, and the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.
These classic vehicles will be displayed in the Ballroom Paddock and will also participate in the hill climb before a large audience. The brand ambassadors for Mercedes-Benz Classic at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed include Klaus Ludwig, Bernd Mayländer, and Karl Wendlinger.
