Toyota’s plan for the development and production of next-generation BEV batteries (Performance Version) and solid-state batteries, scheduled for deployment in 2026, has been certified by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI). The production of these batteries will be handled by Prime Planet Energy & Solutions (PPES) and Prime Earth EV Energy (PEVE, to be renamed “Toyota Battery Corporation” from October 1, 2024). Toyota aims to strengthen Japan’s industrial base and contribute to carbon neutrality through continued advancements in battery technology.
