On July 23, BYD South Africa branch signed a cooperation agreement with Golden Arrow, a prominent South African bus operator, securing an order for 120 electric buses. This marks the birth of South Africa’s first electric bus fleet, promoting sustainable development and green travel. Since 2021, BYD electric buses have undergone rigorous tests in South Africa, demonstrating excellent performance and safety. These buses, optimized for South Africa’s climate, feature a 12.5-meter body and 65 seats. They are equipped with BYD’s proprietary lithium iron phosphate batteries and a 6-in-one controller, enhancing energy efficiency and reliability. This will reduce CO2 emissions and provide a quiet, comfortable ride. The first delivery is scheduled to start in December, with all deliveries completed by the end of 2024.
