The BMW Group has announced new production sites for its next generation of high-voltage batteries. These new batteries feature cylindrical cells with significantly improved energy density, charging times, and range. Production will take place in five locations: Irlbach-Strasskirchen (Germany), Debrecen (Hungary), Woodruff (USA), Shenyang (China), and San Luis Potosí (Mexico). This local-for-local approach strengthens regional production and reduces the carbon footprint by minimizing the distance between battery and vehicle manufacturing facilities.
