BMW establishes leadership in hydrogen technology

The BMW Group has been pioneering hydrogen research since 1979, achieving numerous milestones over 45 years. The first project started with converting a BMW 5 Series to run on hydrogen. By the 1980s, the BMW 7 Series debuted as a liquid hydrogen-powered vehicle, and the company continued to break records with hydrogen-powered cars. Today, the BMW iX5 Hydrogen demonstrates the potential of hydrogen fuel cell technology in electric vehicles, showcasing BMW’s commitment to hydrogen as a key component in the future of mobility.
